General Information
In February of 2009, me and Sara decided that we wanted a way to volunteer in the community and help those that needed it. We created this club to give us a way to do that, as well as allows others to as well. Our club was approved by the SFUO a week later and we were on our way.
Some of the ideas so far are to have a yearly clothing drive, fundraiser events such as bake sales and car washes, movie nights, volunteering for organizations like the Alzheimer's Society and CHEO, run for the cure, and hosting dinners at retirement homes.
We are currently expanding our group and thank everyone that has helped us so far. You have all been so amazing and hardworking!!
Since me and Sara are both going to be in Ottawa during the summer, we decided to keep the club active during the summer months and perhaps do smaller events. This would be a good time to do the dinner at the retirement home, as we do not need too many people for it. We get 250$ from the school to fund our events in the summer, which we will use. We also got 750$ for 2009 winter term. We ordered t-shirts, which we will have beginning of next year (it is still to be decided if we will sell these for $10 or just re-use them for every event) and the rest of the money was used to cover our first event. Let us know if you are going to be here in the summer, we'll love all the help we can get! Plus, all of your volunteer hours will go onto your official transcript.
